Hi, I'm Carolina Aravena Costa.
I was born in Viña del Mar in 1973 and have lived in Santiago since 1996. I'm the mother of Catalina and Agustín, and although I’ve worked for over 12 years in a software company, my true passion is photography, which I’ve been dedicated to since 2013.

From the moment I picked up a camera, I was drawn in by light, movement, and the life that thrives in nature. I started photographing birds without knowing much—simply as a way to learn. Over time, I came to understand their role in ecosystems, and I felt that my images needed to be both aesthetic and technical—to invite others to see them, appreciate them, and help protect them.
My travels are always driven by the same purpose: to explore and document the biodiversity of the places I visit, with a special focus on wildlife and birds. I’m interested in capturing what often goes unnoticed and creating a visual and emotional connection with the world around us.
I’ve participated in two books with the collective Naturaleza Revelada, with whom I also exhibited at the MUI Museum in Las Condes, Chile, in the show “Naturaleza Revelada: Costa Central de Chile, Humedales, Playas y Bosques.” In 2022, I published the photo essay “Fotografiando mi Chile” in Caption Magazine, and that same year I was awarded second place in the Fundación Kennedy photography contest in the category Wetland Inhabitants. In 2023, my work was featured in the March 5th edition of Revista Domingo (El Mercurio) and in issue 38 of Paws Trails Magazine.
My goal is to show the beauty of our biodiversity and raise awareness of the urgent need to protect it. In a world that moves fast and barely looks, I believe that pausing to observe is a small act of resistance.
If one of my photos makes someone stop and look with wonder then it was all worth it.
